Mrs Lona Schoeman has a paper accepted for the IEEE Conference on Cybernetics and Intelligent Systems. She will present the paper, "Using vector operations to identify niches for particle swarm optimization" in Singapore, 1-3 December.

Nelis Franken will present a talk on his MSc studies on Wednesday 28 July, 11:30-12:20 in GW 4-11. The research focus is on the use of co-evolutionary PSO methods to evolve agents to play games such as Checkers and the Interated Prisoners Dilemma. You are all welcome to attend.

The following article has been accepted for publication in the South African Computer Journal: N Franken, AP Engelbrecht, "Evolving intelligent game-playing agents".
The following paper has been presented to be submitted to the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation, Portland, USA: "PSO approaches to co-evolve IPD strategies". Nelis Franken will present the paper.
Attie Graaff has passed his M.Sc examination with distinction, with his thesis topic "Artificial Immune Systems with Evolved Lymphocytes". He will graduate in April 2004.
